My name is Grant Chartrand. I am a doctoral student in the Department of Learning, Design, and Adult Education at Indiana University. My major is Learning Sciences (School of Education) and my minor is Human-Computer Interaction/Design (Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering). I am a member of Professor Daniel Hickey's Participatory Learning and Assessment Lab and Professor Elizabeth Boling's Design Research Group.
I study productive disciplinary engagement (PDE; Engle & Conant, 2002) and expansive framing (Engle et al., 2012) and their role in professionally and personally authentic learning experiences. I'm interested in understanding the prescriptive and descriptive potential of both PDE and expansive framing to inform the designs for and analyses of learning.
